View Full Version : Transparency problem with volumetric light

The green volumetric light is behind three transparent objects and one solid object. The problem is that the transparent objects appear as black spaces (instead of being invisible), thereby blocking the view of the light. (see image) The object on the right shows what it looks like without transparency.

In the scene, I've enveloped the surface so that the object gradually reveals itself in front of the light over the course of a few frames. I've tried double-sided surfaces and single-sided, and various settings with the volumetric light. The goal is to have no blacked out areas. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Turn on raytrace transparency.

Thanks--that solved it. I had the transparency setting slightly over 100%,too, which caused a bit of the transparent object to render.
