View Full Version : Force Field

Bit of a newbie here.

I'm trying to figure out how to create a force field over a plate of food.

The plate of food will be live action footage.

Any ideas on how to create the effect?

Load in the image as a background plate. Create a plane and half sphere in modeler put half sphere on top of plane in center. Bring them to layout and position them to line up with the back platemake it look like food is inside the half dome. Make the plane invisable to rendering and use a combination of procedurals for col, lum and trans, maybe tied to a null. There are a few tutorials around for similar effects, just use some lateral thinking to change them to suit your needs.

Sounds great. Now I just need to figure out the 'look' of the force field.

Maybe proceedurals and transparencies based on distances from null objects? If a hand in the footage comes close to the forcefield, match that with a null object that drives the force field to appear? I'd go with sparkly blueishness ripples?

I'd also use a gradient layer or node with incidence angle to make the edges of the field more opaque than the center.
