Hi,
when you load something in LW (or other apps), if you dont use LW's VBrowser, a Windows browser appears.
This has some shortcuts on the left bar: recent docs, desktops and so on.
Well, i *badly* want to add stuff to this bar, like my objects, images, projects dirs. Is it possible ?

thanks,
Paolo

Mmm. It would be a truly stupid thing, in Windows you can tweak thousand of pretty useless things, this one is useful instead. It would save hours of browsing.

Well, I have a few tools for this, first from Microsoft:

Tweak UI PowerToy:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

This allows you to modify the places bar to the left among other things.

The second from CFi:

ShellToys:
http://www.shelltoysxp.com/

This is an EXCELLENT utility, honestly, I use it so much in my day to day life I can't recommend it enough. Among the MANY great tools, there is one for changing the default size, position and viewstyle of XP file browsers. So no need to keep resizing and changing to 'Detail's mode every time you open a file requester.

Some apps don't utilise file requesters properly, and so don't work, but most do (including LightWave).

The author is very responsive to requests, many of mine have been implemented, I think I'll ask him to add the places bar customisation, then I don't need several apps, just one!

Alternatively, you can edit them yourself in the registry:

Cheers
Matt

Tweak UI will do it. I have those shortcuts changed to my project folders now so they're always at hand when the dialog is open an useless things like "recent files" are gone.

For users who want more than 5 options, autohotkey has tons of features, and the easiest one is a favourite folder menu. Basicly its a program that runs custom made scripts and there are a lot shared on the site.

i made shortcuts for modeler, layout and photoshop and remapped lightwave to use maya style navigation. For tablet users, it has gestures that can be used inside explorer to navigate through folders.
