You should try the open beta of 9.2...

but i wont for now...

that said, how would 9.2 help me with matching?
other than i can select my canon lens.

so, any help with the math and settings? ...

was appeture height in lw zoom factor??...

Well obviously the focal length in the focal length field (or if its a digicam the equivalent focal length compared to a 35mm slr camera) and under aperture height the type of the camera, for example 135 for a normal 35mm slr camera.

Be aware that the 1Ds does not have a full frame sensor, so you will need to allow for that when matching the focal length / aperture height....
The crop factor on that body is called "1.3" but I seem to remember it is not that exactly..... 1.25 I think......

its obvious a digicam, so...uhm... yeh..
uhm... how do i find the equivalent focal lenght compared to a 35 mm slr ingo? ...

im now even somewhat more confused.

Ah, it's a confusing subject....90% of the camera guys are still confused about it as well.

The focal length of your lens is 24mm.
Is it always 24mm, whatever camera it is mounted on, the lens does not change.

On a 1ds, the sensor is smaller than a 35mm frame, so the image you get is actually like a cropped view of that 35mm frame shot with a 24mm lens.
That gives you a shot with the same field of view as a 1.25x24mm = 30mm lens would give you if you used that on a film camera.

Now.... setting the LW lens to 30mm and the format to 35mm stills film might work out near enough, but to be 100% right, and have properly matching DoF etc you might be better keeping the lens at 24mm and finding out the proper sensor size for the camera.

Not got this far with 9.2 yet, so I'm not sure which presets it has for "strange" dslr formats.

thnx guys, i got it working good enough.
