View Full Version : How to make Color Highlights in different Color?

Hi folks,

Im trying to make the following: the reflection-color of a material shall be complementary. So far so good. But the color of the highlights should be in this color too. With the "color hightlight"-option the amount of tintig is adjustable, but only the ground-color of the object is added to the highlight. How do I tint them? Can anybody help please?

The "Color Highlight" in Surface Editor "Advanced" tab is
for colouring current specular & reflection map with the
surface color instead of light color.
If you connect a reflection node in Color output
you could not have reflections all over your object
as it does.

If you want to use a reflection & specular shader
they should be connected in "Specular Shading" &
"Reflection Shading" and they will replace the current surface
specular & reflection model, like any other reflection &
specular classic settings and the "Color Highlight" will
not work.
In this case you should connect the surface color as
color input in the shader nodes and check "Tint" in
Reflection node, for colouring "highlight".

In the attachment is a screenshot and a zip with the scene. That works on complementary color-reflection. Gradient1 makes the ground color, the colortool1 makes the hue-shift and tints the reflections1. But if I attach the color tool to spec-shading all the surface is green.

All I want to tint furthermore in compementary green are the glossy light points that are normally tinted with "color highlight". Maybe the glossiness-info from the surface can be extract and reattached after hue-ing. But how?

This illustrates what I said about Shading with shader nodes,
have set the Surface diffusion to 0% and reflection to 100%,
the specularity is colorized in green but your orange reflection
is strong, so that minorizes the color hightlight effect:

...To avoid loosing the green specular color in the orange reflection,
you could output an "inverted specular alpha" to scale the reflection,
it becomes darker and lets see the greenish specular.
