I've installed OS 10.4 on a duel gig g5 rammed up pretty good- anyone had problems with number of open objects at one time in Modeler- or number of objects in a scene before a load error occurs when loading more?

Think combined real and virtual memory usage tops out at about 3.5 to 4 gigs, the first two being real addressable memory (which is max on 32bit), I only ever load about .750 to 1.5M polys max and have never seen the error messsage.

In LW layout I use to be able to render up to about 6 million polys in LW 8.3? before it would crash. This was with my aging G4 and 2 gigs of ram. This was in bounding boxmode and with fprime 2.1 or whatver I was using 2 yrs ago or so. OSX 10.3 i think.

I just upgraded to Tiger, using LW v9, and now I can't open the surface editor in Layout without it crashing. It worked fine until I upgraded my OS. So I wonder too.

If anyone wonders, I just found the solution to my surface editor problem. I just trashed the Layout Preferences and all works well again.
