Ive been tasked with producing something like the image attached. Ive produced skybox images in the past- stitching several renders together in photoshop to produce one continueous image but cant get my head around how to approach this. The fisheye distortion on each render is gona b the problem! Any ideas?

You should be able to render something like this straight out of LW 9.x using the advanced camera.

Or you can buy Kray, that works even with 8.5 and is faster than LW.

That is a very good excuse actually. There is a free image filter for LW 8.5 that gives you a subset of the functionality (look for special projection at www.flay.com) - but the advanced camera in LW 9.0 has other advantages, is a lot faster, supports multi-threading and you'll get 9.2 free as well.

It also seems that FPrime 3 will support the new cameras as well :)

Cheers,
Mike

I had to do that Otterman, I set the camera up for a 360 spin over 20 frames, had each frame really narrow with a bit of overlap, then used Panorama Factory to make the panorama from them.

Find it here (http://www.arrakis.es/~juanj/) - the special projection engine. If I remember correctly it works with 8.5. But seriously, upgrade when you get the opportunity - chances are real good you'll be glad you did.
