What is the best compressor to use for rednering 3D animations (which is different to video footage)? I am looking for best qulaity to file size.

Also, I'd like to know what compressor would allow you to save video out in different frame sizes, so you are not limited to 640 x 480?

Thanks for any help!

For your rendering "masters"? Uncompressed all the way, and always as an image sequence, never and animation file. I render to either TGA, HDR, or RPF depending on what I'm doing with it.

For distribution it depends on the target format, though for web distro I always do an n-pass DivX encode.

I don't use divx, xvid and those any longer. I bought that very cheap quicktime pro and save as quicktime .264 or sorenson3 for the web.
That way everyone can see the animations, divx won't reach as much people.
