View Full Version : simple particle FX emitter question

i have an emitter animated to move across the scene, it emits particles. i am spinning the emitter but i want the particles to remain stationary. ideally, i will use the rotation/spin tab to control the rotation of the particle, but for now i just want it to stop spinning.

lightwave scene attached (v 9.0)

why on earth are these particles spinning?

hope this isn't too simple. i have the "rotation none" selected on the rotation tab of the emitter control.

i figured out at least one thing. when you do align to path for the rotation, as the particle coasts to a stop, the orientation will go crazy. i guess it has to do with the math engine in the particle system computing the path as velocity approaches zero. if the particle has 0 motion to begin with, the rotation goes nuts as well, spinning the particle wildly.

i would think that as it coasts to a stop, it would maintain the orientation of the last incremental velocity vector.
