Since the new PS Extended supports 3D and painting on motion frames, does anyone know what the format is and if LW will support it? The new PS Ext will also support compositing 3D over 2D elements. Not sure what that means exactly but since so many people incorporate PS into their pipeline it sounds very interesting.

yeah your right about that, but the fact that PS supports 3D models at all is what I thought was pretty cool. And since PS supports AE it might make a new workflow possible.

Well, sofar I haven't read anything that PS extended can do what my setup of LW, FCP, Shake, Motion and PS CS2 can't... I realy wonder what the added value is of this extended version to the proffesional

If it did support 3D I'll be guessing it would strictly be .obj or some Adobe proprietary format. no biggie though since its all going to be painting on the UV Map. But what neverko said...its all speculation for now.

It does not support 3D painting of any type.

I could see Adobe buying Cameleon-labs and wrapping objectpainter into PS-E

3ds files, obj's, udf's all imported and displayed on a 3D layer in Photoshop. Basically allows you to spin the models and then lock them down as pixels. Didn't have any textured sample files with me, but the version I saw showed solid, hidden line, and other rendering types pretty well

So its basically the old Adobe Dimension now included as a plugin to Photoshop.

bah. They could have done so much more with that.

You mean like have a way to unfold the model directly in PS and texture the map? Yeah, that'd be really cool!! It alone would then make PS Extended worth it!!

I went and bought this

Haven't really used it to do something meaningful, but it does work.
