View Full Version : Not remembering my last visit?

Not sure why, but on two different computers this forum doesn't seem to remember my last visit by un-highlighting previously read threads.
The header does say you last visited on XYZ time/date.
But on both computers it still shows days old threads highlighted???

Is anyone else seeing this?

Yeah I was also wondering already, when my "New Posts" page was 20 pages long. Thought it was me or my computer.
Glad I'm not alone with this problem

Ah ha! I thought it was my 'fixed' computer. So it's happening forum-wide...

Glad to see misery has company...

I'm glad I'm not alone here.

I was starting to hear The Twilight Zone theme song in my head.

Do do do do, Do do do do...

Yup, same here! Even tried the "Mark All Forums Read" tool, didn't make any difference.

Wish they'd fix it though. It's been going for a couple of days or so and is starting to bug me.

Browsers? Maybe there's some consistency.

I'm seeing it in Firefox on Linux right now.

Using Deepnet it happened to me once yesterday but not since.

I think it's a recent change they've made to the site. I couldn't find anything obvious in the options for this behaviour, but it's **really** irritating.

Funny how we'll all live with something before mentioning it. I guess it's a sign that we all suspect our systems first. :D
I'm using IE for the record.
Not a biggie, but glad to know I'm not alone. There's something about comfort in numbers.

I'm using FireFox, so I guess they changed something!

Interesting. Anyone else getting double-mailed with each posting to a subscribed thread?

As it was before, new messages only were marked unread, but if you popped out for 5 minutes the forum "timed out" and the messages were marked read automatically.

It needs some more testing, but I think the forum actually works ok now. "All" threads were marked as unread, but I've marked forums as read as I've been reading through them today. As far as I can see, now only new messages are marked as unread. Great!

Using Opera 9.10.

It's an option that's available on vbulletin, an annoying one at that.

I'm having the same issue with both Firefox and IE7, so I don't think it's browser specific.

OK. I guess it's a different way of doing things. It works fine by marking all forums read before I exit. Next time I check it's only new messages showing and at least they don't disappear if I get bogged down doing something else before I get chance to scan through them all. So with a bit of adjustment I'm ok with the new system.

It seems they are making changes: I can't see a thread I started when I do a "New Post" query.

I just went to the front page and set mark forums as read in the quick tools.
Now it's back down to manageable levels. Worth doing this for a couple of days after each visit I think.

I'm sure I've been here before...

Yes, it's a bit of a pain, but I can tell you our MIS and web team are aware there's a problem here. They're working through a number of issues right now, including this one.

OK then, good to know. :)

(P.S. +1 using Safari.)

Same for me with Safari, Firefox(OS X) and IE 6(XP). I was hoping I was loosing my mind....

Ehm.. What problem are you talking about? You want it back to posts being marked "read" if you are away from computer for 5 minutes, or are there other issues you are having?

Must admit I'm quite happy with the set-up as it is now. Better than using all the unread messages before you have a chance to get through them all.
