Yep, Im new to lightwave so naturally Im trying to model a spaceship. Im doing pretty good so far but I was wondering if someone could suggest a good technique for modeling "body panels" on the body of my ship as seen here....

http://www.theforce.net/scifi3d/sta...es/vadertie.jpg

Ive tried several things but nothing seems to work quite right. I tried the stencil tool but didnt get the results I was hoping for. Probably because Im missing some step that would get me there. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Robert

IFW textures is also stunning for space panels, and one of the cheapest extras you can get - if you are new to lightwave, you will really love the huge number of presets.

Panels have all kinds of options, including corner rivets, edge rivets, and drippy stains.

No connection, apart from being a satisfied customer.

Sup Rob... I can't get your link to work, it is not handling the ellipsis correctly.

Check out the textures that come with lightwave... one in particular, the Genericpanels.tga. It can provide a good base to start from, also you might wanna check out the the textures which go on the P51 Mustang model that also comes with Lightwave. Between those two, you should have no problems gettiing ideas for a good panel texture.
