I like the "project" based idea of most of these tuts.
This is just awesome for the new XSI user.
What do we have - make a fork, make a plate, edge bevel an edge, make a thumbnail.

Why doesn't Newtek have create a machine gun and here is how to make it fire some bullets. Model a building and here is how to light, texture and lots of other tips.

Shaw is OK, but most of the tuts are offline or they are the "make a plate" type of tutorial.

Not a rant, just thinking there could be an easier way to the end.

Sorry, should have said check the XSI tuts and the Max tuts. I really like the way the tuts go from modelling a reatively simple object all the way to making a scene complete with lighting, shading weight maps and the whole shootin' match.

But what about job security?
Listen, the only people foolish enough to do these tuts and not take them to the next level will still be rung down the ladder. I just think that I would have been a lot farther had I had these to ponder. Chicken or the egg...

I've found tutorials just as good (or better) than those for Lightwave. The very first Lightwave tutorial I did was the old (actually, now ancient) Babylon-5 Shuttle (http://www.ap3d.com/betterspace/betterspace-tut-alex01.htm) tutorial, along with the others in the BetterSpace (http://www.ap3d.com/betterspace/) series. Certainly not a boring introduction for the beginner. Well, OK, the stuff may be a bit dated now, but still, it's not spoons and forks. :)

Currently I'm going through Larry Shultz's excellent Character series. When I'm done that I may work up the courage to try this one: Serenity (http://www.lwg3d.org/forums/showthread.php?t=27346)
Never see tutorials like that for XSI or any other app I know of (course, they don't get used to do those kind of FX in shows or movies like that, do they?) :D

Heh, I got 160k polys into my own version before I saw Treybor's excellent tutorial over there. I would have killed just for those awesome reference images!

Not NewTek created, but www.simplylightwave.com has some of the best video tutorials out there.

Yeah, those Max models of the BSG ships have been turning up everywhere. Very nice modeling! Looked through 3dbuzz. Where are the tuts for them?

re 3dbuzz modeling on the fly, you have to sign up for 'member sponsorship' then they become avilable in your download area...check the video sections where there's loads of free videos...you'll see 'member sponsor' next to some of them...whcich means only available for ember sponsors.... as they are continously adding content rather than ''a disc''...
