I am attempting to learn shortcuts. However, "clear scene" is supposed to equate to +N. However, when I press the plus sign, I get "Load Object. Where am I going wrong other than using my mouse.

The + symbol in this case represents the shift key. In layout shift-n is clear scene. Also if the caps key is on, pressing just the n key will clear the screen. This is why they recommend leaving the caps keys off so no one gets confused.

Silkrooster, thanks for the info. I guess I must be one of the smarter people because I know I have more, much more, to learn.

Play around with Alt+F9 and Alt+F10 in both Layout and Modeler.
Those are the shortcut keys for opening the menu and shortcut keys editing windows. You can just about make any key combination do whatever you want, and save the menus and hotkey reassignments as cfg files.
Pretty cool. :)
