I look for a new computer. I want a beast for XP(32) rendering.
Anybody can give me some advise on new Xeon quad duo double mega tip top quad core for example... I'm a little lost in fact ! :D

For the money i would just go with a quad core 2 duo.

The quad core Xeons are out soon so you could have 8 cores but it will cost A LOT and would be a massive spend on something that may become more mainstream in next 12 months (therefore costing half the amount).

I would go with a QX6700 with 4gb RAM and a tonne of storage.

Oh man I want one :( Really I do. I am still using an AMD 2100+ :( Time to upgrade I think. I Will have to go with a core2duo though, I can't spring for the $1000 quad cpu.

Surrealist.

Yeah my understanding is the intel quads are the best right now. So I second that. I have AMD now but will wait and see how the competition fares by the 3Q of this year when AMD releases their quad core offering. When AMD gets back into the race, things should change price-wise on the intel side. Right now they have the lead with the quad cores. One thing to think about is getting an intel board that will support the quad cores get a dual core for now and wait for a possible price to drop on intel quads when AMD comes out with their offering. just depends on your situation.

Here is an article on the intel:

And Amd's offering:

Overall though I kind of lean toward AMD in the long run but we'll see.

That's a good idea. Get a board that will support quads but just buy a dual right now. I think that's what I will end up doing.
