Thank You!!

Man this program Rocks!, so easy to use and Fast.
This is one Newtek should integrate into 9-2.
While I was searching for this a number of discussion forums
were talking about crashes on screamernet, have you
experienced this Larry?, I guess I could bake it out.
Anyway, thanks again for the help.

Take Care

Its pretty cool. You can use multiple instances on the same object and supports weight maps. It will work with bones. It will also extrude or move your object along the spline. Ive also controlled the nodes via IKBoost.
One downside is that you cant layer other deformations on it. You can if you bake it however.
Ive never really had it crash on me. One interesting use of it was to use it to create blood running out of a wound. Each node as tracked to small dots on the actors back so the blood trail followed skin movement and deformations. The blood was then moved along the spline. Worked out very well. :)
Heres a couple of other things Ive tried with it:
A facial rig - http://www.3dtrainingonline.com/examples/sst_face_rig.mov
and this:

Hey Niiiice,

I assume your controlling the muscles with weightmaps.
For years I've screamed for Lattice deformation in Lightwave
and this program is the closest thing to that.

Seriously Newtek!, You need to buy this plugin and fully integrate
it into Lightwave.

Nice work Larry.

Thanks Ken :)
I agree, LW definately has had a need for deformers in layout. When this one first appeared I pointed it out to some people at Newtek but never a reason why they went with what they have now instead (which is nowhere as powerful as this.)
DStorm used to have a lattice deformer for LW5.6 way back when...dunno why it was never updated.

I've use Shift Spline Transform and love it... most of the time. I've found that if you don't save on frame 0 the next time you open the project you may have shredded geometry. It can be fixed in most cases by resetting the Rest Position. The other problem I've run into is on larger scenes where you have a lot of objects. You can keep working and saving but when you try to reload the project it will crash layout. This issue caused me to stray away from using it for a while. I'm using it again since the only other thing that comes close is FI's Bezier Bend which is not as easy to set up or control. I'm just a little more cautious in my use of it.

It looks like NT is trying to update their SplineControl to allow nulls as control points but right now it doesn't seem to work properly with more than one control point object.

What I would really like is something like the renderable splines like in Max. Give us control points we can parent things to and control the bend at the point and give us an option to control it's width. Even if it was a volumetric plug-in like HD_Instance it would still help a lot for those of us who are always needing to run pipes and hoses.

I guess someday layout will be able to handle various types of deformers.
Splineamate is pretty sad compared to the 3rd party spline deformers.

Is there a tut somewhere on how to even set this up?
Saw the tenticle mov but it was already set up.

Mine keep showing up on the 0,0,0

I've popped this up on my website now, in the third party section since people keep asking for it. If of course the author would like it removed, please write to me.
