I have been setting up some hv/particles to simulate a smokey trail, and wanted to animate the texture a little, make it "fold" under itself; but when I attach a null reference object to the texture, the texture almost disappears. Any idea what is going on? As soon as I remove it (set it to none), my texture thickens up again and looks okay.

Reference Objects can be tricky. For starters, your texture should be unnaffected by the null if the null is at 0,0,0 and no rotation or scale, so start from there. Also start your HV texture at the default position, rotation and scale. Then move the null in small increments until you see how the HV reacts.

You can also just animate the position of the texture instead of using a reference object.
