is there a plugin that will allow FBX export in LW9 64 bit?

i have a plugin for LW7.5 but it does not appear to be compatable with LW8.5 or LW9.

perhaps LW9 can export to FBX natively??

any help would be appreciated, thank you.

that's odd, because i cannot even install this plugin in 8.5 or 9.

it just plain refuses to install it.

It has been a while since I went to get this plug-in but there are more recent plug-ins for lw. There is at least an 8.2 version. The problem is that the lw versions of the plug are not on the main download page at autodesk. You have to go looking through the download archive.

Tried to edit last post but seems can only edit for 5 min after.

Here's a link to the download area:

Irks me that we don't get the most recent version of the plug-in (other apps have at least 4 revisions since last update to the lightwave version) but there is an lw8.2 version of the 6.02 plug-in version.

edit: second link to more recent version I saw after posting.

The fbx plugin comes with LW in the utility folder. Its called Kaydara.zip.
I have no problem installing it. Once you do you need to put them into menus somewhere. :)

That's a pretty old version of the plugin(dated 2002). The one at the autodesk site is 2005.

When I tried using that one with 8.5 and facial animation, it wouldn't even show up in FA. The later version borked the rotation of the object but it at least it got over.

I keep checking for a lightwave update and have even posted in the forums regarding this rotation thing but there hasn't been a lightwave update in some time.

I believe its the same plugin. Autodesk hasnt updated it in quite awhile. Motionbuilder for example is up to version 7.5 and LW only supports version 5.

The one in the lightwave directory says it is for 7.5. The latest revision at the Auto desk site has one for 7.5, 8.0, and 8.2 The "last modified" date of the one in the lightwave dir is 2002 and the one from the site is 2005.

And finally, they function differently. Try both of them. You'll get different results and even different dialogs.
