Hi
When I create an object and then surface it (with smooth on) the surface has triangular lines through it…not actual lines but the surface is not smooth, it looks like it is creased.

I have attached a few pictures of it including a wire frame. You will see at the bottom of eth circle and in the A it looks funny

Thanks for you help

It has to do with how your object is made up. The main polygon circle is trying to smooth to all sides, but can't in a decent way. Triple that polygon, and perhaps use MergeTrigonsX to convert the tris to quads (find that on flay).

HI
Thanks for that, but still the same, cant find mergeTrigonsX?
When i first started i use DISC...i increase the points to about 320 and 320 segmants (don't know what segmants are!)
I made the first circle to fit the out of the logo. I then (in another layer) copied the first circle, then sized in down...did a tunnel drill and that gave me my 'O' looking part of the logo. I then beveled it three times.

I made the 'A' by using Spline draw, freezing then deleting any unnesasary points. I of course make the 'A' before i bevel because i bevel the 'A' and circle at teh same time.

Any suggestion on the correct way to make this logo?

Very thankful for you help
William

MergeTrigon's I think is no longer available, or its down the last time I checked. Great little plug in.
Looks like smoothing errors to me. Take a look at Toby's tutorial on smoothing. He gives advice on how to fix the problem.

It looks like smoothing errors.
Reduce the smoothing angle in the surface panel and see if that helps. If not youll have to resort to some additional modeling :)

Yeah just triple the large circular polygon.

GREAT!
The link to TobyGaines works! basicly do a bevel without any extrusion...phew!!! several days wasted here trying to sort it out...such a simple solution.
Actually...Larry...yours worked as well...lower the smoothing!

Thanks guys for your support...very greatful.

This means 'hello' in Maori. Maori are New Zealand natives. Not many speak it but very P.C. for news readers etc. Also the All Black Rugby team do a Maori Hukka before each game.
see http://www.rotorua.co.nz/ to see one.

Thanks for letting me know. I know I will never remember it(bad memory), but I find it very interesting.

Is his web site still available? I tried to use the link but to no avail. I have questions about smoothing.
