Ugh. just been sent an .igs CAD file and no idea what to do with it. I'm on a Mac so can anyone out there help, either in converting the file for me or pointing me in the direction of software that can?

Much obliged.

There was a quick discussion about IGES file conversions not long ago (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?p=465715) but I think
you need specific software to convert IGES to polygon geometry..
Software called Polytrans will do it, but it's not freeware.. There is a demo available but I'm not sure how limited it is..

If you have a CAD package (solidworks, etc), try opening it in that and exporting to STL or another poly-based format.. If you have access to 3DMAX, that will import IGES files directly and export to a lw-friendly format..

The current PolyTrans demo is unlimited for 30 days.

We are getting Rhino 3D at the company where I work. We should have it by the end of the week. If you e-mail it to me. I would like to have a crack at converting it for you. I have converted “*.igs” to “*.lwo” files format before.
