I am now physically aroused. You will need to post pix when it's assembled.
Is that proc single or dual core?

It's a great feeling, isn't it? Hope you don't get any DOAs.

I don't think anyone else has this kind of relationship with their tech. Gamers don't. Coders really don't - everything's just a glorified TTY to them (no offence, Code Poets, I dearly love what you do for us).

The only people who are power-users like us do CFD, particle physics, protein folding and the like, and even they don't have the immediacy and intimacy of our merging with the 'tronics.

Do I sound completely insane?

Good point that ones a single, just called Tiger were going to swap it for a x2 4200+

Thanks for bringing that up

I would have gone with an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600.... and appropriate motherboard :)

I also would have gone AM2 had I gone for AMD...

*shrug* :)

Good choice in Motherboard though :)

Sounds like a sweet piece of kit mate.
Watch out for the XP64 device driver ****, if you've not been there already.
(I'm running XP64 on an Athlon 64 4400+ x2 and it's nice and quick and rock solid).

Those are some pretty dated parts for a new PC. Particularly the CPU/RAM combo.

Not compared to my current rig, that has more in common with a South American foot ball team crash landed in the Andes!

When it comes up upgrading your mainbox, it's all subjective - if it's faster then what you had before, it's cause for celebration :D

I have just gone with the Core 2 Duo but its each to there own. It will be super quick with the dual core AMD. My mate has it in his and its a pleasure to use.

Let us know how its goes.

Driver madness.

After three full installs it's finely up and stable, the only one left I'm having problems with is the Black Magic Intensity drivers, tech support tells me that their next version of the drivers "may" support 64bit, and they have no idea when they will be released. Only workaround I've found is to use the component output on the Nvidia card to the HD monitor using Premiere's full screen preview, untested at this point as my RAID is not up yet.

Cool... That is the exact same case that I have on my new toaster. And you paid almost half as what I paid. Wish that I had the same guts that you have in yours.

I just wanted to ad this. It looks like the only box that has no plastic rap on it is the camera box. Did you take this photo with that new Kodak camera??.. If so. It looks like that new camera takes good photos.

Kodak Easy Share Z710, it's not bad and easy to use, future plans are to use it for HDRI light probes.
