I'm not having success going from LW to Maya. Thanks to the tips on another thread (applying UV map to color... it didn't work with it mapped to bump) I was able to put out an .obj that retained the UV that I could load back in Lightwave. The problems I'm having are

1) I have two UV maps and they get merged into one.
2) Maya can't load it. I haven't been able to get Maya to import any obj made in LW. The last one with the merged UVs causes this error in Maya 8:

Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

I can export a DXF that Maya can open, but that doesn't have UVs, right?

Dodgy has an mtl import/export (http://dodgy.ghostoutpost.com/Lscripts.html#mtl_importexport)plugin have you tried using that?

If you are on a PC, download AccuTrans 3D from http://www.micromouse.ca/ and convert LWO to either OBJ or Maya MA
