i need to build, in real life, large conical structures. i need to design peices to fit around these before they are built. what's the best way to unwrap a cone on a mac? unwrap won't load on os X.

thanks

I think that maybe you could try LW Greeble & Nurnies to add the pieces to the surface of the cone...

the pieces are smooth wraps around the cone. kind of like uv textures.

if it's just a texture and what you really want to do is a simple unwrap of the mesh to be able to paint a texture in photoshop then the plg_uv plugins are your best option...but you can also do it with the normal tools in lightwave to create uv maps.

yeah, but it unwraps the cone in a flat plane. i need it in it's coney shape, like if you unwrapped a coffee filter.

then plg_uv is what you need...you just have to select the edge and it will unwrap the cone just like that.

plg_uv crashed on the mac i used. i think that's part of pdrake's problem. I had to use a Windows box to use the plug-in.
