Is there a way (or file format) that lets you output a LW render and then change a texture map in a compositing package like After Effects or Combustion?

I'm not much of a MAX user, but I know you can assign surface ID's to a surface and then through Combustion 2 change the texture while keeping all the lighting and other surface properties.

I have a series of animations where the only thing getting changed is 2 textures and thought this might save a load of time.

Well, you could try using RPF saver in LW but to be blunt: This will quite likely not solve your problem. Somehow it almost never worked for me and especially AE does not really support this format very well.

That is exactly what kind of export I was looking for.

Next question is more After Effects related, but I know a lot of people are going LW>AE.

I can see the RPF buffers just fine in AE PB using '3d channel extract' on the 'Texture UV' channel. Is it possible to use this data in AE to replace the texture? If not, does anyone know of a 3rd party plug that can?

Thanks!
