anyone know how (if its possible) to change the coord system in modeler? layout has it, modo has it, haven't found a way to do it in modeler yet. i have a system of pistons that are not attached on a true X, Y, or Z axis and need to be able to extend them to fit. I can do it on a true axis, then rotate into place, but this takes several attempts to get it right.

any ideas?

You can't rotate or offset the coordinate system though. But if you really need a different coordinate system, and would prefer to offset the system rather than the mesh you could try jettoLocal, http://www.flay.com/GetDetail.cfm?ID=1908 or some other plugin (I think there was one more that offered simular functionality, not sure though).

C-Plane is what you're after. i.e. the other one.

Thanks a million! Altho not the exact solution i was looking for, a massive improvement over the earlier, pre-described method i was using. Sure its one more step than say being able to keep you model where it is and just switch the work plane, but 100 times better than the way i working!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

Yup, c-plane was the one I forgot about. I remember people discussing it and praising it. I downloaded it now for myself aswell. Thanks mattc!

this is a horrible tool. Picking points is a crapshoot. How about just a move by poly normal tool? Or highlight segments maybe so we know what we're picking. I know - this should be in the feature request section I guess. I'm just sitting here using this tool right now and recalled this thread :)
