View Full Version : EasySpline Cross Spline tool video

New tool has been added to our NURBS modeling toolset EasySpline Cross Spline. It analizes two selected not connected by any point curves finding the closest position on both of them, and then making new LW point in that location and inserting it to both splines. It simplifies adding new spline loop into ready or almost ready model (to create new spline that match ready model smoothness you can first temporary freeze area that needs making spline cage denser, and use frozen points as source for ctrl-p; once spline is done select all crossing splines and new spline and using Cross Spline to connect them into regular spline patches).

You can see it in action on below video (please use Save Target As or download manager):

On the below video you can see technique described above-Cross Spline used in practice for adding yet another spline loop between two existing and using temporary frozen splines for generating points that are source for spline..

BMW without additional spline on the roof..

BMW after adding additional spline on the roof.. Smoothness preserved because they're perfectly placed on frozen object..

Nice! this tool just looks better and better. If you can do things like projecting curves on surfaces and trim surfaces, then it would be very interesting. Any chance you will fix a demo version of this tool?

yes very interesting.
i'm curious too about tools, beside basic patching; trim, fillets and so on...

Older video #6 presented Extrude Spline.. At this moment it also works with points and edges, not just complete splines as showed on that video..
(Extrude Spline is also used in TrueHair but in other name Extrude Hair, and little extended form)

When you will use it on LW9 edges it's like Bevel for normal polygonal mode, but done on splines..
