View Full Version : Does anyone have Cricket Stumps?!

Hi Guys! Does anyone happen to know where I could get a free lightwave model of cricket stumps? I'm getting a bit desperate! Thanks for the help!

What's a cricket stump?

Um.. these ones! Maybe you call them wickets over there??

Pretty simple geometry? Can't model that yourself? I really can't understand the desperation.

Ah well i've been thrown into doing promo work for someone on holidays and i've had the equivalent of about 3 days training in lightwave... in 3d in total! Hence the desperation.... i'm new to this.. but it's ok.. i'm sorted now

aah!, i thought it was some kind of slur against disabled crickets or something.
Anyway, agree with the dude before me, it looks simple, why don't you do it yourself? probably take about ten minutes. Just askin'....

Ah I think we posted at the same time.... yeh after 3 days of training i'm pretty cool with lightwave itself.. modelling i'm still getting the hang of.. i'm cool with spheres and surfaces and stuff!! :) Give me time!! lol

we all start somewhere. At any rate, did you manage to build one?, If not I'd be happy to whip one up for you........

Thanks very much for the offer.. I made a quick 'very dodgy' version.. and theres a guy at work who's kindly offered to tidy it up for me! Thanks tho!

Bl**dy Cricket!

M-a-a-te, I'd just like everyone to know there's more to 'strailya than sport and John Howard. Yeah, if you have to get some stumps...

Hehe, and then to think we all knew a time when we scratched our heads for making even simple geometry like that! :D

We`ve got some burnt ones in a very nice little silver urn, which we`ll let you have a look at if you ask nicely :-)

Make a cylinder, (that's the "Disc" tool in Primitives), and stretch it out to the dimensions of the body of the stump. Select the bottom polygon, and Bevel it out for the pointy bit. Go to the next empty layer using the Big Strip o' Layers in the top right hand corner of your modeler window, make a cylinder that intersects the top of the stump where the bale would rest. Put your first layer as foreground again, the layer with the new little cylinder as background, and hit shift-B for Boolean. Select "Subtract" from the Boolean panel and hit "OK"

Say "ooo!"

Hit CTRL-Y for "Array", set an X count of 3, keep the other defaults but put 300% in the X Scale Offset box.

Say "aaa!"

Then proceed to use your new-found Cylinder and Bevel powers to create the bails.

Welcome to a larger world.

Esper, that's mean! Funny, but mean! :D

Desperate, keep it that way because the world is too small when you can't reasonably escape the Cricket.
