View Full Version : Export from max to lightwave problem

I'm trying to import a mesh from max to lightwave and when i open the 3ds file in lightwave, it makes it all triangles. Is there any way to preserve the quads that were in Max, or fool lightwave into making them quads?

You need to use the OBJ format instead of 3DS. 3DS does not support true quadrangles (in 3DS quads are only a display property).

Thanks Mylenium, found myself a obj. exporter for max, and it worked, all quads. Have a good one.

One more thing to look for,, even though it comes into LW looking all pretty and quad like,,, actually alot of times alot of them points arent welded and you get weird results down the line, so whe nyou bring it into modeler the first time just run merge to get rid of alot of stray and coincedental points
