View Full Version : MARKER PEN procedural texture

Sorry to double post but since this is a mac plugin- I thought it appropriate to post it here also, here it gos-

I just want to animate a signature and the RmanNodeCollect procedural texture node-MARKER PEN is the way to go (see attachment).

Ive downloaded this plugin and attempted to render from the example supplied but Im getting no results. Ive also set up my own file from scratch, played around with the various settings and still nothing.

Just interested to know if anyone has had any joy with the MARKER PEN procedural texture using either LW 8.5 (RmanCollect) or 9 (RmanNodeCollect). Oh and on the mac!

Ive email the creators of the plugin (Lightwolf and Dpont ) for the lowdown - All credit to them getting back to me but to be honest the feedback has still left me scratching my head.

Should I continue to pursue this or can anyone suggest an alternative route?

I'll be checking it on my lowly mac mini once I find the time...

Unfortunately debugging on the Mac is a pita... (at least using CodeWarrior in OSX)

I'm sure Michael will try to fix the OSX version of Marker Pen
(and me too, if this comes from my sources).

Instead there is an old trick, like un-masking your text to reveal it
with an animated reference object and some different layers
(mask + text + paper).

...But if your signature is complicated, the above trick
could be a pain, if you can do compositing and retouching,
(if you are not in field rendering)
one shot without text, another with it as under-layer,
erase the first layer frame per frame (a signature takes not more
than 1 or 2 seconds). But depends opf your compositing tool.

Forgot that you can do something with geometry
my old shifter has an OSX version which should work in 8.5,
make a curve in modelel, Rail-extrude a square,
remove useless polys to keep a ribbon.

Old, because I made an older Lscript version a few years ago

Hope it works.

PS: you can try to make some UV on the ribbon.
