Am I reading this right?

It looks like the bestselling books on 3d graphics are for Lightwave?

What can we say about that?
Does this mean LW is doing that well in popularity? OR just that people using maya and xsi learn in other ways?

It means that Dan Ablan is da Man! :) I haven't bought ILW7 but have been going though 6 like crazy!

Or it could mean that LW's manuals are so bad that people have to buy 3rd party books to figure out the program.

I'm waiting for someone to document how to bake volumetrics into an image map.

I'm waiting for NewTek to start creating the animations and illustrations for me. Books? Who has time to read books! Sheesh! You'd think that if I paid 900+ bucks for 3d software that it would come with my work already done!

I heard that Maya comes standard with a six figure job. Is this true? Or is that a seperate plugin....

It could literally mean anything. :)

All the LightWave books out there are great references... well, there's one that's not very good... but all the others are excellent references.

No matter what software I have, there's always a third party book I pick up. It's great to see what others are doing, learn a new technique, gain some inspiration... you know...

I've heard bad things about 'Shamms Mortimers' (spelling??) book. Seems he's an expert in every field.

Remember to avoid buying anything with the word "Sham" in it ;)
