Totally cool...
Robin Williams sings this song to Amanda Plummer in The Fisher King, probably Terry Gilliams best work. One of my top ten faves of all time.
Thanks, Proton, for the lyrics.

Gotta admit, when I first read the subject line, I started singing the song from that film. But, as far as best Gilliam film, you've seen Brazil, right? If not, get the Critendon Collection box set...

And BTW, just in case you didn't know, Applause Books has published the script with Richard LaGravenese's commentary on the film as done, Deleted and Altered scenes, and an introduction by Gilliam - fine read.

I've seen Brazil... although it has been several years.
Maybe I should revise "best work" to "my favorite Gilliam film".
Dang it, now I'm going to have to buy a large pile of DVDs. I can never seem to buy just one at a time.

Don't you just hate that when that happens? :D

OK - that I can totally see and understand - and I'll do it again, 'cause I'm a dork... :D

Oh yeah, and I did not know about the script and what-not. I'll have to look that up too. I love stuff like that.

So, seriously, my wife - whom I met 4 or 5 years after the folliowing fairly drunken rambing story actually happened to her - got to see The Fisher King premiere at Duke in previews long before I knew the film got released. (Apparantly, during previews, the film went to Duke. This is just one of the reasons that I still kick myself in the ***** that I didn't try that hard...)

Which film was it that Grouch Marx sang it in?

I think that Fisher King was definately Gilliams best movie with Brazil a very close second

And you really must see 'Lost in la mancha', the story of his attempts to film Don Quihote... Some of the most unbleeivabel bad luck...

My bad - It's The Criterion Collection. (I do that all the time.) It's a 3-DVD set with the theatrically released version, the director's cut, and a full disc of interviews, documentaries, storyboards, etc.
