Well done, could use a bit more bump maped texture see atached photo taken by a friend in his garden here in South Africa. It may help a bit.

I would suggest to try and find(or make)higher resolution textures. Very good modeling.

Excellent work. Great texturing and lighting. Is the scene a Lightwave creation - the web and dewdrop is especially well done.

I absolutely LOVE the use of colour on the body of the insect, seriously impressive. A bit more bump would help, but even so, that's great stuff. Looking forward to seeing what you do when you are NOT a beginner!

The luminosity is what give it away. A little less contrast might help or background composition to raise the tonal range. Great mesh.

Now that's much better than the bucket, you shouldn't even have bothered showing the other one.
The surfacing and lighting on the grasshopper is very convincing and it's been neatly composited with the background image.

i think the diffuse is too high, also there is no fresnel.

fresnel is everywhere!
