Does anybody know how you can produce your own hdr images and save them out with the appropriate file tag? Thanks.

LW can save in HDR format. There are other applications that support HDR formats as well.

If you have a non-dslr canon camera and a laptop you could use ahdria to get automated shots which will be merged to hdr images:

Just save as .hdr or .flx. That's all there is to it!

What exactly are you looking for? HDR pictures or HDR maps?? They are two different animals in the way the image is constructed to make a seemless environment.

HDRI 3D magazine has a tutorial in Issue 2 that goes into a good depth on creating hdr light probes for lightwave. The whole concept can be applied to making just an HDR image.

The above URL takes you to a site the creates HDR images in multiple formats.

I just spent a bit of time learning how to create HDR images and I have 1 piece of advice for you. If your camera can store RAW images, use it. There are a couple of reasons, 1st, the picture will have the camera settings stored with it, 2nd, it should be uncompressed (should be and are depend on your camera. Nikon does use a little compression in their version).

I recently did a night time HDR and am very pleased with what I got out of it as far as an HDR is concerned. And I must thank Gregory Glezakos for the article!
