I'm getting ready to buy a new vt4 system and have 2 suggestions for computer hardware about which I'm wondering which is the best - any suggestions?

I'm capturing at one location and editing at another

1st suggestion:
INTEL XEON 3.0GHZ XEON 800MHZ/2MB CACHE X2 (3YR)
SUPERMICRO X6DA8G MOTHERBOARD W/U320 SCSI & LAN VERSION 2
1GB ECC REGISTERED DDR RAM X2=2GB

WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL

(2) LG1919B - 19 LCD SCREENS

2nd suggestion:
Hewlett Packard XW8200 dual 3.4 Xeon 2 GB RAM 160 GB
Seagate Cheetah 73 GB Video stripe set (4 drive)
(2) NEC Mitsubishi LCD monitors

Also, I can edit in any nl app I want, yes?

Actually both of those systems are rather dated. There are much more powerful solutions on the market. We are finishing a Dual Core Xeon right now for a customer and it really screams in comparison to the older Xeons you mentioned in your post.

Shoot me a PM and I will be glad to whip you up a current quote for a fitting VT system.

Yes you can edit in other NL apps if you like. It all depends on how you setup the system though. For instance Premier Pro does not like to use the VT card as a sound card.
