View Full Version : The world moves fast, question about LW/displacement maps

Hi,


I recently purchased Silo which includes Silo2.
Its got some really nice displacement painting features, and now I wonder, when Silo2 is out, along with mudbox, will LW accept their displacement maps, too, or do we need new importers/nodes ?
Also, will we see displacement for modeler, too ?
I imagine modeling an orc like in LOTR, having the displaced mesh in Layout only will not allow me to adjust the orcish armour, or for example rings for his displaced fingers and stuff like that.Or what would the workflow be in LW vs a unified app like Maya ?
Would I have to freeze the mesh, get it to modeler and work from there..?

I think the workflow for silo2 models will be exactly as the Zbrush workflow. I used that workflow with hexagon2 displacement maps and it worked just fine.

Are you talking about normal maps?

Normal and Displacement Maps in Mudbox/Hex/silo, will have the node flow as Zbrush in 9.

Arrh!! this stupid time limit on editing drives me mad. When will newtek realise is it not popular.

Thats good to know :)
But what about the modeling workflow without having access to displacement maps in modeler !?
