When I use the drag tool in Modeller LW8.5 , I could drag a point by grabbing
the corner of a polygon but in LW9 I have to grab the points on the cage, is this something I can change in the settings because when working up close
the points can be off the page or when the points go behind the surface they can't be grabbed unless in wireframe mode.
I'm a rookie with Lightwave and really need help with this.

You are using the new cc subd's right? You will have to switch back to regular subd's, because cc subd's are an incomplete feature!

And turn off display cages.

Thanks for your reply, but could you explain that to me,I'm not understanding, could this also be why models made in V9 dont completely appear inV8.5(only points, no poly's).

at the bottom of modeler there is a drop down for subd type...after you switch you have to untab and retab.

Turn off subd. Down with point, edge and poly selection mode you have a menu called subd-type. Change the type and turn on subd again.

... why there have to be so many workarounds in lightwave ?
It is funny to have so many tools and then knowing it isnt working with the current settings or selection...

I think I've run into that very same thing myself. Working on a path citing in the manual doesn't always work because something, some needed set-up or prerequisite, isn't dealt with. Such has left mine unable to continue in using a certain tool or so.
