Hi

I've been pricing up an AlienWare system over a Dell Precision 650 system, I have a few questions about these two components.

Does anyone have either of these?

NEC 20" MultiSync® LCD2080UXBK

NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5800 Ultra 128MB

If so what do you think of them?

Also, the Dell system is a workstation suited for intense 3D work. Would an 3000 GBP AlienWare system be as good? It's about the same price and spec' so it should be.

Any have any experience with these systems in the real world.

Many thanks in advance.

Matt

P.S. I know the AlienWare systems are expensive because they're 'AlienWare' I don't mind that, they look cool!

:)

okay, let me put it another way . . .

if you had three thousand UK pounds to spend on a computer that had to be maxed out for speed and 3D prowess, what you buy?

at the moment my search has led me to either a Dell Precision 650 or a customised AlienWare box (bear in mind I'm UK based too for delivery)

I could go the build-your-own route but I'm not sure if I can be bothered!!!

thoughts?

cheers
Matt

i've got a DELL 8100, and i love it, but given the money and the choice, i'd go with the ALIENWARE.

You might consider getting a few simple Linux boxes together for some SN action instead...just a thought. Three cheap Althlon systems with cheap HD, and a good amount of cheap ram...
