CTRL+D doesnt work.

im not used to these weird hotkeys

When I bevel how do I make it so that it only moves inward not upward? Kind of like if you held shift to make a striaght line?
Im trying to do an Inset or Outline (known in 3dsmax) but it looks like bevel is my only option.

/ deselects, as does clicking on an "inactive" (not a control) area of the interface.

ctrl (on Windows - I assume cmd on Macs) is the constrain key.

I believe there is a hotkey pdf or a hotkey page in the help file. Print those out will help you get up to speed quickly.

And the most important key of all to remember is n. With it you get the numeric options for tools so that you can enter numbers... ;)

You can also right-click and draw a lasso around everything you want to deselect. It will deselect everything inside as soon as you let go of the right mouse button.

The keyboard spreadsheet was a part of the doucmentation for LightWave [8] but not for LightWave v9. A member of the community has created one for LightWave v9 and posted it here: http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53989

For moving individual points you could also use the drag tool, in which case the tool would stay on, nothing need be selected, and you can just drag points like so. The hotkey is "^T".

I personally like to do it the way you describe, mainly cause the single t key is easier to hit, and I've been able to do it sufficiently fast. (I find that using the right-click lasso as Kurtis mentioned makes it faster, since less precision is needed to deselect the point).

Oh okay. Thank you for that hotkey sheet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw some LW modeling in action on a video and it was so fast how they moved things and created models!! I think ill use the drag tool for now w/symmetry. This is SO MUCH different than 3dsmax the learning curve is a lot harder in my opinion, but i have a feeling its going to be worth it.

I created VirtualMirror http://virtualmirror.trueart.pl which in 80% makes LW Symmetry system obsolete.. You should easily find demo of this plug-in on 3rd party developer DVD included in LW9 package.. With it you will be able to do any geometry modifing actions without occasional breaking symmetry.. Also EasySplit http://easysplit.trueart.pl (demo included in the LW9 package) together with Drag Tool will dramatically speed up your modeling, as you can see on f.e. this video (http://www2.trueart.pl/Products/Plug-Ins/EasySplit/Graphics/Movies/EasySplit_3.avi)..

i'd recommend if you have a thumb button on your mouse that your not using for anything else you map it to the drop current selection tool then you can drop your selecting very easily very quickly
