View Full Version : Real vs. Virtual Memory

Can someone tell me why I CAN run out of memory when rendering say a displacement map? What I don't understand is why Virtual memory isn't used and preventing a system lockup, crash or warning from LW?

I know it would be very slow, but at least it should work.

Also, it seems like an enormous amount of memory is needed per Polygon.

check around the forums, i remember reading somwear that lightwave doesent use virtual memory, really not sure on that.

I get the same problem at work, i have 2 gig and lightwave dosent seam to go over 1.8 before it crashes.
