View Full Version : Speaking of Monitors - Hitachi 17" LCD?

I'm putting together a new VT3 system and I need at least one of the monitors to be a LCD so I can put it in the sound booth while recording voiceovers. Since I wouldn't want non-matching monitors in a dual setup, I'll want two to go please. These look like a good deal, but I'm not a technical expert:

The fast refresh rate seems relevant to VT work, are these okay specs?

Thanks,

Tom

Check out the 18" MAG from BestBuy

$449 with a $50 rebate - not bad

Hi Tom:

Yes and no. We have two Viewsonic VX800 LCDs with a response time typ of 25ms and we have not noticed problems running VT in a live setup or in Ted. This Hitachi claims a response time (typ? best? worst?) of 16ms.

BTW: The thin bezel is really nice for a dual screen setup. Also, if you have the option to, get a video card that has _two_ DVI outputs rather than one digital and one analog that many cards have. We have a Gainward card which at the time was one of the only NVIDIA cards that had both digital outputs.

Overall, the specs look good. You might want to check with them to find out how many bad pixels qualify you for a replacement. Tomshardware.com had done a very interesting review of various LCDs that you might want to check out. I've not been keeping track for about 6 months so I'm not up-do-date on what the best is out there.

Good luck,

Irfan
