Hi All,

I've been researching the options for capturing voiceover recording and have settled on the Echo MiaMidi PCI card:

However, in one of the RME forums for a similar product called Hammerfall, someone opined that they thought the sound card and the Toaster card might conflict. Is this an issue, and is there a workaround because MiaMidi is perfect for my needs.

Thanks,

Tom

While certainly possible, Tom, I have been running a low-end sound card alongside my VT [2] system for quite some time.

Yes, the Mia has been discontinued and replaced with the MiaMIDI. However, I was originally looking at the Layla24, which is an 8-in, 8-out version, and I asked Echo about compatibility with the system I am getting:

I said:

I'm buying a PC that is optimized for digital video, but I also need to manipulate the soundtrack, mostly voiceover. I am considering your Layla 24 system and I wanted you to look at these system specs to make sure that the Layla would be happy here. Note in particular the hyperthreading, dual processors and RAID data array, since some audio products object to these features.

They said:

"Yes, dual Xion CPU, Hyper-Threading and Raid data array are ok, but your Intel E 7505 Chipset is not. We recently had several bad reports about Dual XION CPU and 7505 Intel chipset, so we don't recommend this particular chipset at this time. Thank you for your understanding."
