OK guys, I've been using LW since the amiga days, and I can't believe I have NOT discovered this untill TODAY... you can drag around the thumbnail of the procedural texture to get a good 'look' at the entire thing... downright amazing!

I can't believe that I had zero clue about such a nifty feature...

(back to clicking-and-dragging...)

...in the Surface Editor window? I'm dragging and dragging, but it's not changing.

Please advise.

Check out the attachment--I drag this area in the red circle, and it works! (LW9)

yeah, that's a good tip--been using that for a while... but the drag thing is just nifty!

Yes it's nifty.

It would even be better if the procedural XY positions actually changed on the layer when you dragged it.

Wishful thinking. :D

i discovered this myself only a week ago. pretty nifty. :)

Considering it's just a repetitious mathematical pattern, it's hardly worth looking at the 'rest' of it. The thumbnail tells the whole story. ANyway, if you've been using Lw since the Amiga days, you should already know what all the procedurals will look like on your objects, before even opening the surface editor.

I think it's worthwhile to look around in the procedural texture if you have Coriolis or Cyclone. You can see how and if the "twist" affects areas even in a distance.
