I am thinking about getting a Dual Core G5 (2 ghz) and I wonder whether having dual cores means that G5 has 4 nodes for Screamernet purposes?

anyone know?

thanks!

Well that depends on whether you want to have 4 nodes or not - you can either run LWSN multi-threaded or you can run multiple single-thread nodes. The latter is actually the best option 'cause ScreamerNet's multi-threading ain't great but bear in mind each node will need enough memory to render the scene i.e. if the scene = 1gb, 4 x nodes need 4gb total...

A 2Ghz G5 only has 2 cores. You need the Quad which is 2.5 Ghz.

I assume Johhny means a MacPro; the 2, 2.66 and 3ghz models are all quads

and screamernet hasn't been ported to OSX intel either - yet!
