Hi!

TrueFillet v1.0 has been released to the public and can be downloaded from our website http://www.trueart.eu

It's fully interactive equivalent of JettoFillet, compiled to plug-in (not LScript!) that works perfectly with LightWave v9.

Best Regards!

Very nice and works great.

Thanks for listening to those of us that lamented the demise of JettoFillet (at least for LW9).

.O.

You Sir, are a true Gentlemen and a Scholar!!! I used JettoFillet all the time! This was a major blow when it stopped working in v9, you are my Saviour!!!

It even works with all selection modes too awesome! And you can reverse the direction, something JettoFillet never did!

:)

I do have two requests though, if I may!

a) Any chance the metric swtich could use mm instead of m, it's more natural as fillets are often small details. (Love the percentage mode, great addition that!)

b) JettoFillet had a 'maximum' option where the fillet would be created at the maximum size before it over-lapped any other points.

But even so, this is a great tool, thank you very much for bringing it back for LW9!

Cheers
Matt

Great tool!

The only complaint I have is the interactive part could be a little less dramatic in the changes. I also noticed that if you use the bezier tool to make a curve that it doesn't handle high point counts well.

Now someone just needs to get the thickner plugin working correctly.

Oh, jeez, Blochi's desk is right next to mine.... sits 2 feet from me everyday... :foreheads:

Guess I'll point him to this thread tomorrow.

I am sure we can get a LW9 friendly thickener pretty quick.

I'll persuade him with beer at the pub tomorrow. :beerchug:

Could you make it two? (some time in the distant future I'll get you a double - promise :) )I've been missing thickener since the early betas :(

But we're offering beveling tool that works on points and LW9 edges already for 3 years.. http://wrinkle.trueart.pl..

I just noticied that it does not work well with curves.. Going to see what I can do with it..

In this animation I've started with selecting LW9 edges and run Wrinkle (http://wrinkle.trueart.pl)and adjusted Shift, Segments, Inner and Outer Distance and used linear shape for bevel, a later changed to smoother on top of "wrinkle", but sharp on bottom (that's editable in shape preset manager in 2nd menu tab).

can wrinkle be used as a more traditional edge bevel too? say just the top of a cube? more interestingly does it only bevel the selected edges unlike lightwaves own edge bevel at the moment

can wrinkle be used as a more traditional edge bevel too?

Well, LW9 edge bevel tool crashes here very often, so I don't use it.. I prefer making edge bevels with EasySplit.. It's not immediately symmetrical on edge line, but at least doesn't crash..

That's EasySplit result (point between vertical edges is moved by drag tool, and then new EasySplit cut is made with mouse):
http://www.trueart.pl/Products/Plug-Ins/EasySplit/Graphics/Movies/EasySplit_3.gif

say just the top of a cube?

If you set Outer Distance to 100% or near this value, it can do what is on this animation (on later frames there are shown different shape presets):
http://www.trueart.eu/Products/Plug-Ins/Wrinkle/Graphics/Movies/Wrinkle_4.gif

more interestingly does it only bevel the selected edges unlike lightwaves own edge bevel at the moment

Do you mean making another line of edges near selected? Wrinkle can't do so simple things, due the way it works (shape from preset manager replaces each edge that has 1 selected and 1 unselected point, each both selected are moved to the Shift distance in point normal direction)..

Very handy! Thanks! Nice work.

Now if anyone could make a fillet tool that fillets between two objects or two 3D surfaces (like a CAD fillet) I would pay for that!!

I had no Idea wrinkle could do all that, wonderful, thx for the input.

This is a great tool and it improves on the functions of JettoFillet in so many ways. But the rounding routines aren't the same as those found in JettoFillet (or even Rounder), which can be problematic. Compare the results of each tool using the same settings on a simple box:

http://www.stevewarner.com/Help/fillets.jpg

The rounding routines of JettoFillet and Rounder produce perfect circles. But TrueFillet produces a rounded box. In some cases (when the exact shape doesn't matter, just the fact that it's rounded), this isn't a problem. But in others, it's a big problem because the non-circular results can be fairly noticable.

I'm so jazzed about this tool and the features it offers. It fills a glaring hole in LightWave's native toolset. But I can only beg and plead that the rounding routines get addressed in the next revision. Pretty-please!!

That's great news! Thanks for taking the issue into consideration and updating the tool. Will you be releasing a free version as you have with other versions of TrueFillet, or will it only be available as part of the Modeling Pack?

Thanks again!

You right of course. I didn't have that other link, don't remember clicking around to find it and do have 1.5 in my plugins, must have been sleep clicking.

Sorry about that!
