I was watching a video about natural effects in Lightwave, and they mention snow shader and water shader plugins but I can't find them anywhere. These seem to be part of LW 5.6 but I cannot find them in 6.5.

That's right...they're gone.

Let's hope they'll reappear in LW8, huh :]

For natural effects I recommenc RealWave and RealFlow, however they do only liquid effects but their results are awesome. The other thing is that they are commercial.

If you have a working copy of LW 5.6 you still can use the Natural Shaders with 7.5. Personally I don't miss them - the functionality is now integrated in the gradients and more procedurals in surface editor.

nope, accessibility is NOT a gradient input parameter.

Ok, LW_Rust. Didn't think of that one. It's just too long ago. But you can get the same effect using EE_grit or baking radiosity. Hopefully they will add that feature in 8.

So what about backward compatability? This means scenes created in 5.6 won't render properly in later versions! Why did they get rid of these plugins? Is there some other way to achieve the same effects easily?
