A while back I saw an article in 3D World about taking a 3D model and having a physical prototype made from a composite material. They even ran a contest and the top 10 got them made free of charge. With 3+ years of back issues, I just can't seem to find the manufacturer's name.

I have a medical customer and I am considering having scale models made of their new intra Ocular Lens (IOL) with technical data laser scribed onto it as part of their new product release.

Any company reference on "models to parts" or "model to prototypes" would be appreciated.

Best,
Andrew

That looks quite cool - I need to do a bit of searching myself to find one of the rapid prototyping places that works with PVC. I was very impressed by the quality of some of the stuff I saw in Boston - like taking an XBox controller shell that had just "printed" and bouncing it hard off the desk to prove it's robustness.

Try contacting one of the companies that make the machines directly. Sometimes they can tell you about customers that own their machines and offer rapid prototyping services in various media.
