hi
just in case you've not seen the dvd...beyond short story from animatrix has some very nice [in my opinion] cel/water colour 3d scenes.

how would one go about making this style of render in lightwave?

would i have to paint all the textures in something like painter then apply them to the models .... do you think they use cel shader BESM for bits of this...

any help would be nice as i'd really like to get a similar effect to this in my next project

There is an article in CGW about the AniMatrix and covers how each of the segments. It should be on their web site too... yeah....
