View Full Version : how do you bake a bump map ?

I've got a scene with a lot of objects using proc. shaders to generate a bumpmap. Is there any way to bake them in a map in the same way you can bake colour etc...?

it must be possible, just haven't found the right option yet. gradients perhaps ?

further on how would you go creating super deailed objects and then map the detail as a bump map on a lower poly object (like the new ermmm ?quake? thing I heard a while ago.) Anyone tried doin it in LW yet?

found out first part of my question...

go to the colour channel, desactivate all textures (if you have some), add gradient on bump map black to white 0 to 1, bake with only colour channel selected.

works - but needs hires map to be of a good use and is tedious because you need to tweak all the textures with a gradient...
