Howdy,

Is there a way to save a large group of objects out of layout, as one object?
I've received some scene files which contain so many separate objects (which ought to be one object, or at least far fewer), it's just silly...I would have to identify, cut and paste literally hundreds of objects in modeler in order to get them into one. But I do need to make them into one object.

Please tell me there's a way....

send to modeler or open in modeler first, and cut/ paste into first layer.

If you open up in modeler first then all layers are shown so no need to do layers seperatly...just ctrl-X......ctrl-V into layer 1

would that it were that easy....But these are not different layers, they are different objects. Like, 100 different objects! the only way to load them together is with the scene file.

look here:

'One Click Scene to Object'
- Easily collapse selected objects into a single .lwo file
(saved transformed, collapsed into single layer, reloaded into scene)

hope that helps
