My son got LW8.5 with free upgrade to LW9 since he liked 3d animation in high school. He's taking more of those kinds of classes in his senior year. Is there a list of what's new and updated in version 9? I've got it loaded for him and he was playing with it alittle tonight. We've been on vacation and he won't get to play on it till next week. I just downloaded the on web help and got it installed. But a list would help.

Hey there local! I bet you came down here and got it tax free! Just kidding...

Anyway here is their really detailed list:

http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/features.php

The biggies are (to me):

A nodal shading system with several new shading models (including SSS)

APS (it's like sub-pixel displacement)

Catmull-Clark Subdivision Surfaces (new version of what happens when you hit the tab key) which adds support for edges and N-gons

Relativity expression engine

New Render core (perspective and advance camera) which speeds things up a bit and more or a lot more depending on the scene

Better OpenGL support

There are others, as you'll see if you read the list, but these are some of the major ones. For gee-wiz though nodal, SSS, and APS are tops.

Have fun!
